Called to the Bar in 2008, Lishan maintains a broad civil practice, with a particular focus on commercial litigation and advice. He specialises in complex and difficult commercial matters that require the attention of specialised Counsel.

Lishan has a varied practice however his principal areas of practice includes all aspects of commercial litigation, equity, building and construction, insolvency, common law, family law and insurance claims. His breadth and depth of experience in so many jurisdictions, along with his reputation as a strategic and tactical litigator has yielded recent positive outcomes in matters with few prospects of success.

Lishan has successfully appeared in a broad range of complex interlocutory matters, hearings and appeals in a wide variety of jurisdictions, including the Family Court and Federal Circuit Court of Australia (including the Full Court), Supreme Court of New South Wales and inferior courts, as well as the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT). He accepts briefs from law firms and in-house legal departments, and also accepts direct access briefs, the latter of which has involved the delivery of general commercial advice to the business community.

More recently, Lishan has been regularly briefed to appear in both property and parenting (family law) matters.

Prior to being called to the Bar, Lishan gained considerable experience as a solicitor, primarily in commercial litigation, where he regularly conducted litigation for major financial institutions in recovery actions, as well as in bankruptcy and corporate insolvency, family law and building and construction law.

A former Board Member of Frederick Jordan Chambers, Lishan is also the editor of Lexisnexis “Court Forms, Precedents and Pleadings” and has delivered presentations on developments and topical legal issues in his fields of practice. He holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts from Macquarie University.
