Andrew Norrie

BA, LLB, MIL, MCrim, MBL (Syd)

Admitted as a Barrister in NSW in 2008

Called to the Bar in 2008, Andrew maintains a broad national criminal and civil law practice. Admitted as a barrister in several jurisdictions, Andrew predominantly appears in New South Wales, Victorian, Queensland and Western Australian courts and tribunals.

With a strong academic background, Andrew holds a Master of Business Law, Master of Criminology, Master of International Law, Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts, all from the University of Sydney. He skilfully applies his extensive knowledge in his chosen fields of practice, including criminal law, family law and all aspects of civil law, such as commercial law and equity, and common law.

Possessing considerable advocacy experience, Andrew frequently appears unled in civil and criminal matters (where both summary and indictable offences are alleged) at both trial level and on appeal. His courtroom expertise has seen him appear against Senior Counsel, and the matters in which he appears led by Senior Counsel are usually technical appeals. His practice has seen him appear in the NSW Court of Criminal Appeal and Supreme, District Court and Local Courts (and their equivalents) throughout Australia. He also frequently appears before the Guardianship Division of the New South Wales Civil and Administrative Tribunal (formerly, the Guardianship Tribunal).

Prior to being called to the Bar, Andrew practised as a solicitor, predominantly in criminal law. Such experience has served to provide a solid grounding for his current criminal law practice. Andrew is also a member of the Legal Aid NSW Summary, Indictable and Complex Criminal Law Barrister Panels.
