Alex advises and appears for the prosecution and defendants in indictable and regulatory proceedings. His clients include State law enforcement and regulatory agencies, Councils, corporations, and accused individuals. He is experienced appearing for the unfit, and the mentally and/or cognitively impaired.

Alex has wide experience appearing in crime-related matters: applications for apprehended violence orders; review of exercise of statutory powers and instruments, including notices, licences, and warrants; forensic procedure orders; forensic patients; applications for prohibitory and mandatory injunctions; hearings in NSWLEC Class 1, 4, 5, and 6 proceedings; statutory privileges and public interest immunity; and the enforcement of judgments and court orders, including contempt proceedings.

Alex appears for parents, children’s representatives, intervenors, and interested parties in family parenting disputes (FC&FCA, Div. 1 & 2, interim, final and contravention hearings); care and protection hearings and appeals; and parens patriae matters.

Prior to coming to the Bar, Alex worked as a solicitor for 19 years. He started out at a multinational private law firm, before moving into solicitor-advocate roles at the NSW/ACT Aboriginal Legal Service, the Northern Territory Legal Aid Commission, the NSW EPA, and the NSW Crown Solicitor’s Office.

Alex holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney.
