Ms Kim Boettcher, a Barrister at Frederick Jordan Chambers, has recently been appointed to the NSW Bar Association’s inaugural Succession and Elder Law Committee. The Chair of the committee is Lindsay Ellison SC.
The Bar Council is assisted by a number of specialist committees comprised of barrister volunteers who offer their skills and expertise for the benefit of the public and the profession. The Committee will regularly advise and assist the Bar Council in matters of law reform and public affairs in the areas of Succession and elder law, including responding to matters of public policy and the administration of justice.
Kim is regularly briefed in cases involving elder law and she is also a Director of the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse (INPEA). Before coming to the Bar, Kim was a Solicitor at the Seniors Rights Service, an independent legal centre in Sydney, which forms part of an Australian network of community legal centres. Kim has attended the United Nations in New York as a civil society delegate and has presented papers at international conferences on compliance with elder rights regulation and its relationship with consumer law and human rights. Kim looks forward to assisting the Bar Council with its work.
