Clyllyn Sperling

Admitted as a Barrister in NSW in 2011

Clyllyn practises mainly in the areas of family law, matrimonial property, child welfare and adoption as well as general litigation.

With extensive experience appearing in State and Federal Courts in both hearings and interlocutory matters, Clyllyn is regularly called upon to give expert legal advice and representation in matters for parents, grandparents and children, from a diverse range of economic backgrounds. His in-depth knowledge of the case law and legislation in his areas of practice, coupled with his ability to provide empathy and a deep level of understanding of the issues in complex matters in difficult circumstances, lays the foundation for delivery of a service his clients highly value.

Previous experience includes practise as in-house counsel and solicitor advocate at Legal Aid NSW, prior to which he gained considerable experience as a solicitor in private practice. Whilst a solicitor, Clyllyn gained specialist accreditation in Family Law from the Law Society of New South Wales, honing in his knowledge and skills in what has become one of his core areas of practice at the Bar. He often appears for Legal Aid clients who are disadvantaged, from non-English speaking and culturally diverse backgrounds, as well as people with intellectual disabilities.

Clyllyn has been a member of the Family Law and Legal Aid Committees of the New South Wales Bar Association. He is also a member of the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia and a member of the Legal Aid Review Committee. He has delivered numerous papers in his areas of practice and holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New South Wales.
